Noone wants to play anymore...

Posted by K0Nx - October 12th, 2008

I just finished watching UNDERFIST. In it Fred Fredburger asks Erwin if he wants to play and Erwin responds "No" then Fred Fredburger exclaims "That's the problem... no one wants to play anymore!" and though this may have been intended as a joke, it struck me more as a hard truth. It seems that youth these days are growing up too fast. I'm 14... I still watch cartoons and play games that are somehow considered "girly" to my classmates. Kirby, Sonic, Mario? How have these iconic characters gone from the coolest guys around to "girly"? I mean what has happened to society? No one wants to play anymore... it's all about appearing older, wiser, and stronger. I watched a documentary recently called 'Darkon' and someone was talking about how it's all right for kids to play with toys yet when adults do it's all right to mock them. But what truly is a kid any more? I see six year old girls walking around exact mimics of their uptight mothers. When is the line crossed between adult and child? I hear parents asking their children to act their age, but how should one act in this mixed up world where children act like adults and adults act like children?

So NG Community...
What do you think?

.................?

Did you read it?

I didn't read either.

kon rocks. he is so funny. i just bought the first bleach movie. its really good. the ending song rocks.

I know I like bleach alot...

But I kinda want to change my SN...

Because I want to make good videos and I don't want to be attached to a character...

A couple of hundred years ago people were working and married with children at 14, so it could be worse... and there were no video games! :O

I guess your right...
Maybe were reverting back to that?

Wow, Your 14, and you wrote something intelligent. Congrats.

I have your answer:

As the Generations get older the more people are going to try and "mature" the more the younger kids hang out with the older kids, the more mature the younger kids will get. So each generation is getting more mature.

Take this about 10 years back, High school kids were having sex around senior year for the first time, but now. These kids are having sex by 8th grade, which is very disturbing.

Younger kids are just trying to be cool, and they are trying to grow up too fast. They don't realize that they are kids, and they should be having fun. My little sister is 8, and she's already talking about boyfriends and stuff. I didn't even know what that was when I was 8!!!

I do have to put the blame on the TV the kids watch though, MTV has corrupted our youth with sex and violence. Yes its entertaining, but the younger generations look up to these people on TV and try to be like them. Tila Tequila, do you know how many straight girls want to be bi now... seriously! wtf!

Anyways, there is really nothing we can do about it, but just and have fun. Don't worry about what people say. And if they call you a girl, whip out your giant e-penis and tell them does this look girly too you. Cause honestly your propably the only one that isn't following the trend of "acting old" at your school.

You should try and bring fun back to your school,

Good luck man, don't let others get you down, people can be stupid, and they don't realize what they say half the time.

Thanks mate for the intelligent response...

your right, I still play'girly' video games and collect action figures, but still, you make A very good point.

Thanks!

When I see that kind of thing I know it's a sham, an act, or otherwise a supressment by the authority figure or those around the person. Heck, I'm 15, and I can't get over flapjack, CN's new show. But it's all about conducting yourself based on where you are.
Besides, if a kid would rather be texting on her blackberry it just means more time on the swings for me :)
